Muay Thai / K1 / Boxing Equipment

Our Muay Thai classes typically involve people working in pairs.

This could be one person holding pads (you are taught how to hold Thai Pads safely at class) and pushing the other person through their paces on the techniques being shown.

On occasion we will also do dutch kickboxing drills where, instead of pads, people going over set combos and counters in pairs. These formats allow participants to drill safely, with intensity and without the risk of an injury.

We also have dedicated sparring sessions which are essential in helping those gearing up for competition. Our pad-work is “hard” but in the vast majority of cases, our sparring is deliberately “playful” to maximise the learning opportunity. (“Sabai Sabai” - Thai trainers will often shout this to reminder fighters to “relax”!)

  • 14 / 16oz Fully Closed Boxing Gloves - There are several high-quality muay thai equipment brands that are well-known and trusted within the muay thai community. Some of the most famous brands include Fairtex, Twins Special, and Top King. Please get you own gloves! (We do have some shared gloves at the club for first-timers but from a hygiene perspective we always encourage you to bring your own.)

  • ShinPads - There are several high-quality muay thai equipment brands that are well-known and trusted within the muay thai community. You can find stuff for sale online easily. Some of the most famous brands include Fairtex, Twins Special, and Top King. Warning - these are probably more expensive than you expect - a good pair can be between 79 - 100 GBP! RDX offer some cheaper alternatives that should do the job for around £40… From experience, good shin pads will last FOREVER and your shins will thank you for it! They will transform your “game” as you will be able to spar playfully without fear of getting your shins knocked (if you know - you know!) . Also nobody wants to pair up with a partner who doesn’t have shinpads - it seriously limits your training and progression!

  • Muay Thai Shorts - There are several high-quality muay thai equipment brands that are well-known and trusted within the muay thai community. Some of the most famous brands include Fairtex, Twins Special, and Top King.

  • Hand Wraps - Learn to wrap your hands! Get some 4m / 4.5m hand wraps.

  • MouthGuard - Not cheap but worth it - a quality mouth guard made by your dentist (not a cheap boil and bite job) is a must for any combat sports enthusiast who likes their smile.

  • Cup / Chest Protector - Protect your bits guys and gals.
